Ad Format FAQS: unlocking effectiveness across platforms

Scams are getting smarter, and more personal. At Tappx, we’ve recently seen an uptick in fraudulent activities aimed at clients, job candidates, and even employees. From fake websites to impersonated executives, online threats are evolving quickly.

This guide will help everyone in our community understand the most common types of scams, and how to stay protected.

🎯 Who’s being Targeted and how?

Clients:

  • Phishing & fake portals: Fraudsters set up sites that closely resemble the Tappx platform to capture login credentials.
  • Payment scams: Fake emails request invoice changes or wire transfers, pretending to be Tappx staff.

Employees:

  • CEO impersonation fraud: Scammers create fake WhatsApp or email accounts using executive names and photos. They ask for urgent tasks, like buying gift cards or sharing internal documents.

Candidates:

  • Fake job offers: You might be approached with a role offering high pay, remote flexibility, and a quick hiring process, but are then asked to pay for courses or work equipment upfront.
  • Messages from unofficial accounts: Recruiters using Gmail or Hotmail accounts, or contacting you via WhatsApp without prior interaction.

🚨 Red flags to watch for

  • Unusual or urgent-sounding requests
  • Slight variations in email addresses or fake URLs
  • Requests for money, login details, or 2FA codes
  • Generic messages without personalization
  • Communications from channels outside official company domains

🔐 How to stay safe

  • Only trust communications from official domains (e.g., @tappx.com)
  • Verify suspicious messages directly through internal or official contact channels
  • Never send money, share passwords, or click suspicious links
  • Use 2FA and strong, unique passwords for accounts
  • Report anything suspicious to your contact at Tappx or fill in the report.

🚨 We are actively monitoring these risks and have launched a Scam Prevention Hub on our website to keep you informed and safe. If you ever doubt a message or notice suspicious activity, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Fraudsters are getting more creative, but together, we can stay one step ahead.
